Atlanta Youth Action Board

Founded in 2016, the Atlanta Youth Action Board (YAB) is specialized stakeholder group of the Atlanta Continuum of Care. Membership consists of persons between the ages of 18 and 24, with at least 2/3 of YAB members having lived experience with homelessness. The YAB advises the Atlanta CoC on policies and activities related to preventing and ending youth homelessness.

The mission of the Atlanta YAB is to connect youth experiencing homelessness to housing and resources that can help them maintain a life of self-sufficiency. Its vision is to end youth homelessness in the City of Atlanta. Specific tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Informing the CoC’s written plans or strategies related to to preventing and ending youth homelessness.
  • Reviewing and guiding answers on CoC funding applications.
  • Reviewing RFPs.
  • Participating in site visits.
  • Reviewing systems data and performance and making recommendations for change.

Membership is open to youth ages 18-24, with an interest in preventing and ending youth homelessness in the City of Atlanta. Members meet monthly and are provided a stipend and professional training for their consulting services.
